Weekend

I met Chad is OKC this weekend to pick up his work truck and spend a few days away. Our friends Erica and Rian went with us. We had a blast eating, watching movies, go cart rides, eating, swimming, eating. We had a great time. I missed Colby and Maddy, but I feel so much more relaxed and prepared for a busy week after being away. They did well while we were gone. Colby wanted us to get him a "smoke blower" aka fog machine. We got both of them one (because it was kind of expensive). They had a wonderful time playing like they were the Texas Tech football team/cheerleader. They are SO cute. I love them with my every being. Chad is in Kansas for another week. He is working in Amarillo next week...Woooohooo!! It will be nice having him closer to home. I miss him so much. I wonder what life would be like if we were together every day!!!

What's Happening?

It has been a good while since my last posting. We have been busy with life. Colby has done a great job adjusting to school. It is still not his favorite thing in the world, but at least there are fewer tears. He had a WONDERFUL report card. He is a good friend and a big helper. Maddy is a funny, bossy little mess. We are working on potty training. It was fun the first day, but not so cool since then. We will see what happens. She is really enjoying school, as well. She tries really hard to be the jr. teacher. I am not sure that the real teachers really appreciate that, but they humor her. Chad is still in Kansas. He has taken on a fourth gang for this year. I don't know how he does it. He does such a good job with these guys that they keep moving him to new projects to get them in shape. Hopefully it will all pay off sometime in the near future. I have been busy with the kids, church work, and home studies. I have taken up sewing in the time that I don't have. It has been a stress relief for me. I have made several outfits for Maddy and a couple of things for Colby. I don't think Chad would appreciate me making him any home made outfits, but I might try :)!! My next attempt is Halloween costumes. Thank goodness they are supposed to look goofy.

On another note, we had our bedroom, hallway, dining room, and front living room painted. I think it looks wonderful. Just need to decorate now. It is awesome. My papaw and one of his friends have been working on the backyard. It looks amazing. Much less debris and weeds. It is lovely! This house is looking better and better which is good because our custom built home (New Deal) sold a little over a week ago. Literally a month before we could technically buy it back, it was sold. AHHAHHHAHH!! That is so frustrating, but thank God we have a house, my kids are healthy, we have jobs, and our family is safe. I am working on my attitude.

3 Weeks In

Well...Colby has been in school for three weeks. Week one was fast and furious, week two was longer and harder, and week three was short. He is having a hard time being at school from 7:45 until 3:40 everyday. I am having a hard time, too. That is a long time for a five year old. He loves playing with his BF(s) Dawson and Ryan. This week is ND's homecoming so I hope that will keep him motivated and excited. I try to make each day something special and something to look forward to. We will see how long that last before Colby figures out my secret. I cannot believe how much he has grown in these few short weeks. My sweet boy is a little man. He is so tender-hearted and worried about Mommy and Maddy. Speaking of Maddy, she is a mess. She is so free spirited. She looks for the fun in everything, and she is bond and determined to have a good time at whatever she is doing. (I wish I could say that she got that characteristic from me!) She has been in school for two years. She is having a hard time taking naps because she is trying to "entertain" all of her friends. The teachers have had to put her in her own room for rest time. My baby girl is a mess.

Funny story: Chad flew in from OK City last Friday for the Labor Day weekend. When he flew back on Monday night, he went the airport covered parking to get in his company truck. He knew where he parked it, but it was not there. He looked for over an hour. He then went to get their airport security, and they helped him look for over an hour. Long story short, his truck was stolen. Besides having all of his work stuff in there, but his ipod, psp, sunglasses, etc. where in there, as well. He received a call from the OK Sheriff's Department saying that they arrest the guy on Tuesday, but did not know that the truck was stolen. When they went back to pick it up, the truck was gone, again. As of Friday, they think they may have located it, again, but they were going to have to get a warrant. Good gravy. How many people get their truck stolen from airport parking, then found, and then stolen, again. Only the Hendersons.

Made It!!

We made it through our first week of school at New Deal Elementary. Colby did wonderful...better than I thought. He was very tired in the evenings, and he did not enjoy getting out of bed in the mornings, but we made it (on time) everyday. He said that it is a lot of work and not enough play time. I think that as soon he gets the hang of things, it will be much easier. I am SO proud of him. He is a sweet boy and a good friend. Maddy has done better than I thought, as well. She asks for Colby during the day, but she doesn't walk around all day looking for him. She wants to stay with Colby when we drop him off, but we try to stay busy during the day. We will have to see what the second week holds for us. I will try to post some pictures of our first day.

2 Weeks 2 Go

I have a little less than 2 weeks before Colby starts school. AHAHAHAHAHAHA! I am nervous, sick at my stomach, and very emotional. I don't want my baby going to school. I want him home with me. He will be going to New Deal from 7:45am-3:45pm. That is TOOOOO long. He is excited and nervous. I am being very supportive and acting very excited. We talk about it daily and dream about what it s going to be like. Maddy is going to have a time with him being gone. She loves her brother, and she follows him around constanty. I feel like I did before we had our foster children and Maddy. What is life going to be like? It will never be the same. There are certainly worse things in life. It is hard to believe that he is already old enough to start his educational journey. My baby...all grown up. Please pray for us as we make this transition. I know it will all work out, but we have to make it past the unknown. I don't handle change very well so this will be an adjustment. Pray for the teachers, administration, staff, and his new friends.

Baseball

Colby had back-to-back games tonight which was a little tiring for these 5 & 6 year olds. The games did not end the way we wanted them to, but Colby did wonderful. He hit one homerun in the first game (brining in another runner), and he hit a GRAND SLAM in the second game. We were so proud of him. Chad was able to see both great hits. He also did an excellent job running after all of the balls and helping out his team. It can be a little frustrating not winning, but Coach Peter is doing a wonderful job keeping the kids focused and learning new skills. Way to go, Peter!

During the games, Maddy does an excellent job visiting with everyone and making sure she knows what all the other families are doing. She loves to share everyone's drinks and snacks (whether they want her to or not). My little social butterfly!!! She is a mess.

I have the two cutest and sweetest little Hendersons EVER!!!

Day 2

I am giving this thing another shot. I know that my pictures are GI-NORMOUS, but it is either huge or nothing. Maggie texted me about how to change it, but obviously, I did not get it. I will work on that.

Anyway, Chad is coming home tonight! Yeah!!!! He has only been gone a week so that is not too bad. Colby has baseball practice tonight. He is loving playing ball with his friends and cousins. I can't believe in just a few weeks he will be starting the big K at New Deal. I dare not mention the word because it make me want to throw up. How can my little baby be old enough to start school? I am going to miss him terribly when he is not at home. He is my little buddy and the best big brother, EVER. It makes me physically ill to think of him being gone that long every day. Please start praying for me. Colby will be fine. I am the basket case. Maddy is taking a quick power nap. She doesn't normally have naps this late, but it was either put her in the crib or put me in it. I didn't want the furniture to break so I decided she should lay down. She is a sweet, daring, energetic little pistol who knows what buttons to push. She looks like her daddy and acts like me--poor thing! HA! Next time I post, I hope that there is something really good to talk about and not just ramble on about nothing.
